About a month ago I wrote a post about being contacted by Chris Bianchi of Mile High Sports Magazine and told they wanted to a a story on me and the 5280 Shirt Shop!
Well today I received a email with the digital version of the magazine and my first real look through the issue. To tell you the truth, I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to check the issue out. It’s been available to readers for a week or so now and even my good buddy Adam Kinney @DSNAdam of Denver Sports Nation gave me his copy of the issue to look through. Funny… I promptly gave that issue to my mother-in-law who wanted a copy to show the family.
I guess the feature did something to me. It made this little 5280 Shirt Shop business real. Not just something I work at after my kiddo goes to sleep, but real in the sense that I have always seen other businesses, people, athletes featured in my favorite magazine who seemed a world away, and here I was on the same pages as them. Real in the sense that someone else was going to read and get to know about me and why I started the business. Real in the sense that HOLY COW my mug is in the magazine!
If you’ve not had a chance to see the story on me, click here to check out the online edition or stop by a Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, Tattered Cover, Blake Street Tavern, Denver Metro Grease Monkey or anywhere else that has the magazine rack available. Actually, do yourself a favor and subscribe to the magazine. Hands down the best local coverage on all things sports in Colorado.
In the end I can’t thank the staff of Mile High Sports enough for considering a story on the 5280 Shirt Shop and especially thank James Merilatt (President), Doug Ottewill (Editor) and Chris Bianchi (Columnist, Co-Host, Associate Producer). Thanks for helping a little guy achieve a life long dream of being in the pages w/ his sports heroes.
I’m not sure what the feature will do for the business if anything, but I know it feels really good to know that an idea you had was appreciated by someone else.
